What is it?
The practices we enforce to prevent and reduce the spread and destruction a fire can cause.
The serious bit
It’s a sad truth that had the right fire preventative precautions and procedures been in place the lives of hundreds of people would have been saved and serious injuries avoided in domestic and industrial premises fires throughout the UK.
The legal bit
There are 2 main pieces of legislation governing Fire Safety:
The regulations require employers (and/or building owners or occupiers) to complete a fire safety risk assessment and based on the finding, ensure that adequate and appropriate safety measures are in place to minimise the risk of injury or loss of life in the event of a fire.
There is also an obligation on employers to ensure that the risk assessment and safety measures are continuously updated.
The choice of course depends on your fire safety requirements. The insights from your risk assessment will help you identify the areas of training you require, a full list is provided on the column to the right.
