Course Description

This City & Guilds course combines Working in High Risk Confined Spaces (6160-03) and Working as a Member of a Rescue and Recovery Team in Confined Spaces (6160-08).

 

Working in High Risk Confined Space course operates against the national occupational standard for high risk related confined space environments.

The candidate will learn how to implement procedures for teams working in high risk confined spaces, control safe entry and exit to/from the high risk confined space, monitor the work team to ensure procedures are followed, control emergency situations.

Understand health and safety environmental legislation, protocols for working in high risk confined spaces, the entry controller duties and responsibilities, and equipment checks and testing requirements.

Use of working set breathing apparatus is mandatory on the high risk City & Guilds course and requires candidates to be clean-shaven.

 

Working as a Member of a Rescue and Recovery Team course operates against the national occupational standard for working safely as a rescue and recovery team member in confined spaces.

Candidates will learn how to oversee safety checks of the entry and rescue teams prior to commencing work activities, enter and exit confined spaces safely as part of a rescue and recovery team, use equipment and tools safely, follow procedures and work safely as a member of a rescue and recovery team, understand the principles of working as part of a rescue and recovery team, and standard protocols for working in rescue and recovery teams.

Course Aims

The City & Guilds Working in High Risk Confined Space course aims to prepare those to work safely, entering and exiting high risk confined spaces, using appropriate tools and associated equipment, following safety protocols and procedures, along with understanding the requirements to effectively deal with emergencies.

The City & Guilds Working as a Member of a Rescue and Recovery Team course aims to prepare those to carry out emergency activities, entering and exiting confined spaces safely, using emergency equipment, casualty recovery and handling devices in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, rescuing and recovering casualties, following procedures, and working safely at all times.
