Tell us a little bit about Precise Installs

Precise Installs (Strathclyde) Ltd are plumbing and heating specialists based in Blan-
tyre, South Lanarkshire. We deal with all aspects of domestic and commercial heating
system installation, service and repair across the central belt of Scotland. We also install beautiful bathrooms and assist some of South Lanarkshire Council’s tenants with wet room adaptations via their Buy With Confidence Scheme. A lot of our work at present is completing first and second fix plumbing installations on lots of new build sites for a number of building contractors across Scotland – our team is continually expanding to meet this demand.

How do you think Precise Installs, and the industry, has been impacted over the last year?

Precise Installs, and the plumbing industry in general, were greatly impacted by COVID19. New build sites were initially closed and even now that they are open again, progress on site has slowed as the result of the increased safety procedures involved in keeping workers safe and limiting the number of trades working on an area at any one time. That said, we at Precise Installs, continued to provide our customers with emergency services throughout the whole lockdown period. We were able to keep a skeleton team working to help anyone experiencing no hot water, heating or significant flooding. In order to keep our engineers, and our customers, safe the way we work is different now. We have adapted to the changes and like many other companies in the industry, we spent the time during the various lockdowns reflecting on our business model and improving how we do things.

What is the focus for Precise Installs as we move through the COVID-19 route map?

The focus for Precise Installs is to future proof our business. We have invested lots of time and energy in obtaining MCS accreditation (Microgeneration Certification Scheme). This means that we are now accredited installers of ground and air source heat pumps which is necessary if our customers want to be able to access Government grant funding for these installations under the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) scheme. Low carbon, renewable energy heating systems are the future for the UK and we want to play our part in helping to meet the carbon emission reduction targets. Enabling our customers to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and businesses is a big priority for Precise Installs and we happily provide advice and guidance on the very best heating solutions to suit their individual needs. We have also gained a Financial Authority License so that our customers now have various finance options when purchasing new bathrooms, heating systems etc as we are a broker for Hitachi Finance (UK) Ltd. Making sure our customers receive the very best service from us is by far the most important element of our business.

What’s next for the team at Precise Installs?

As previously mentioned, moving into the installation, service and repair of low carbon, energy efficient heating systems is the future for Precise Installs. We spend a lot of time and energy keeping up to date with emerging technologies and trying to assess what’s in store for the plumbing and heating industry over the next few years. At the moment, it is not clear which technologies will be adopted by the UK Government to meet the carbon re- duction targets or how they plan to incentivise home and business owners to adopt these often expensive heating systems.

Whatever path is chosen, Precise Installs plan to be at the forefront of ensuring that our team are trained and ready to install, service and repair the domestic and commercial heating systems of tomorrow for our customers. We also have big plans to share our training with others in the industry, but that’s a longer term goal and one which we will be happy to share details of nearer the time. Watch this space…………
