Who Should Attend? Those who work in High Risk confined spaces:

The work environment will be entered using self-contained breathing apparatus and will involve
non-standard entries involving complex operations, introducing additional risk and requiring spe
cific controls and arrangements.

The course is competence based and requires delegates to show a sound understanding of safe
working practices, emergency arrangements, use of a variety of entry and safety equipment and
use of respiratory protective equipment.

• Health & safety overview
• The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 & Approved Code of Practice
• Identification of risks and their control
• Workplace safety
• Weil’s Disease and sewage decontamination
• Hazardous atmospheres and gas monitoring
• The risk assessment process
• Operation of safe systems of work
• Use of permit to work control measures
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), pre-use inspection and safe operation (IP rated, intrinsi
cally safe and ATEX approved)
• Fall arrest systems
• Safe entry/exit
• Emergency procedures
• Theoretical and practical training on SCBA, Oxygen Resuscitation and BAECO procedures
