• CPCS A17C Telescopic Handler This course is for people with limited or no experience who want to learn to operate a telescopic handler. On passing the technical tests, we will apply for the CPCS trained operator card (red card) on your behalf. Course content
    • Operate the machine for all normal tasks
    • Decide whether a particular load is safe to lift
    • Carry out routine servicing procedures and maintenance as necessary, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
    • Know how the machine works and the maintenance requirements involved
    • Understand the effect of load, size, weight, gradients and ground conditions upon machine stability
    • Know how to load, store and transport representative materials
    • Understand the basic construction of pallets.
    Teaching and assessment 
    • 4 days learning through a mix of classroom-based teaching and practical exercises
    • 1 day assessment - CPCS technical tests.
    Qualifications
    • CPCS Trained Operator Card (red card) on passing the CPCS technical tests
    • CITB National Construction College e-certificate available on request.
    Mandatory entry requirements
    • CITB Health, safety and environment test passed no more than two years before the course start date or alternatively the new CPCS Plant Operative Health Safety and Environment Test, specifically tailored for Plant Operators.
    • Good understanding of spoken and written English.
  • NPORS Excavator as a Crane (N100) Course Content

    To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
    • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
    • Be able to conform to manufacturers requirements as per technical data, conform to relevant regulations and legislation
    • Be able to locate, identify and explain safe working loads, lifting capacity chart and explain different lifting configurations and working ranges
    • Identify and explain different lifting procedures, explain what task could fall into each category
    • Identify and explain centres of gravity, calculate estimated weights of loads
    • Identify any overhead / proximity hazards
    • Be able to agree the signal codes / hand signals, direction of movement, safe working and safe landing, placement zone with the slinger / signaller
    • Ensure excavator is in a safe condition for attachments to be fitted
    • Checked load integrity and security by carrying out trial lift
    • Be able to lift and move a load to a designated position in a safe and controlled manner ensuring minimum uncontrolled movement
    • Environmental considerations
    • Carry out all of service and securing procedures
  • Pre-course Requirements

    Delegates must have passed the appropriate HS&E test within the last two years prior to attending this course

    Course Overview

    The A56 Articulated Chassis course is there to enable you to operate and maintain the operations of dump trucks with an articulated chassis. You must recognise the risks associated with quick hitch devices and how to use them safely.
